It's been nearly two years since I made the switch from city to country-life. How did two years pass already!?
When I left Melbourne and moved up to Northern NSW, I was naive enough to think that it would be the same easy ride as being an artist in Melbourne, but it certainly wasn't. Time is making me wiser as they say!
Sometimes though I think we all need that little bit of naivety or that no-fucks-given attitude to do something we really want to do. Because if we know too much, we may never take that all important plunge!
One of my goals was to have an art studio somewhere to work from, sell my art from and meet people interested in things that I'm interested in. And I suppose, in some way I'm very close to ticking that box!
Over the last couple of weeks the 'sunroom' of our 1960's daggy-on-the-outside-lovely-on-the-inside home has been transformed into an open airy space that I can draw from, and invite the public and passers by in to come and view my contemporary drawings and prints. I have a huge array of black and white hand drawn art ranging from black and white illustrations of birds, insects & fish, to contemporary Art Deco influenced pieces detailed with hand applied gold and rose gold foil. There is also the chance to see new works in the making way before they are online.
My art studio is located in South Ballina (a two-minute crossing on the Burns Point Ferry from Ballina and just over half an hour south of Byron Bay) We are in a nature reserve where it's peaceful, beautiful and my veg grows in abundance!
I will be opening up my art studio / gallery in South Ballina, Northern Rivers NSW from Saturday 17th on November (best to give me a call or email to confirm a rough time of day until I set my opening times in stone)
362 South Ballina Beach Road, South Ballina, NSW 2478
If your coming from the south, follow signs for South Ballina, if coming from the north, you can take the Burns Point ferry with your car across the river from Ballina to save time or drive round (its a nice drive along the river)
Can't wait to meet you all!
